Tips To Lose Weight

How many times has someone asked you for some tips to lose weight? Just about everyone that is trying to lose weight is always looking for some good tips that will help them get rid of those extra pounds. Sometimes we are looking for tips that will make the whole process a bit easier, although this may not be the best route to take. One has to realize that it takes time and self discipline to lose weight. It takes the courage to make some changes in your life style.

But where does on start? There is so much information available on weight loss that it can confuse anyone who is not sure what to do. There is no wonder that is such a heart felt cry. There are so many diets offering fast weight loss and sometimes conflicting dietary advice, that it is hard to know fact from fiction. Does the Banana Diet really work? Is the Atkins diet really as dangerous as some people say? What is the truth of the matter?

One of the best tips to lose weight you can ever use is to take the time to research any plan that you are considering. Get the facts on what you are about to do. For me, I have found that after reading much of the information available it would certainly appear that the glycemic index, or GI, can be helpful to those wanting to learn how to lose weight. Basically it ranks carbohydrates according to their effect on glucose levels in the blood.

Weight loss can be a very scientific issue , but most people really don’t want to get into the science of things…they just want to lose weight. However, a little bit of knowledge did not hurt anyone. Carbohydrates that break down quickly during digestion have a high GI rating. This is important because foods with a high GI rating raise blood sugar levels and throws your metabolism off kilter. The result is weight gain. Foods with a low GI rating keep a person’s blood sugar at an even level, making it easier to lose weight. Eating foods with a low GI can also lower your risk of developing diabetes, cancer, and heart disease.

We all would like to lose those extra pounds quickly, but this is not always the best thing to do. But, if you are open for some tips to lose weight and if you want to know how to it some what quickly, then need to know which foods have a low GI rating then the following chart offers some basic guidelines

* Avoid processed foods.
* Choose breads that are high in fiber and contain oats, whole wheat, seeds, and nuts.
* Fresh fruits and vegetables will offer a low GI alternative
* Avoid foods with empty calories like soda, candy, and chips.
* Eat more legumes, such as beans and lentils.
* Avoid sugary cereals and all other sugar laden foods.

Remember many tips to lose weight have no serious scientific support. This does not mean those tips did not work for someone else, but they may not work for you. For anyone who wants to know how to lose weight a good rule of thumb is to avoid all foods that have a high level of sugar. Reading food labels can help with this a lot and will take out most of the guesswork. Also, try to use sugar substitutes in your cooking, but only use stevia or xylitol as they will not affect your blood sugar levels. All other synthetic sweeteners mimic sugar and confuse the body and can actually cause you to gain weight.

The Obesity Epidemic

Why do so many people need to lose weight? Take a look around and you will see that the number of obese people is growing, no pun intended. There have to be reasons as to why this has become such a serious problem in today’s society. Maybe it’s the food we are eating. Maybe it’s our lifestyles that is the cause of this weight problem. Or, more realistically, maybe it is a combination of both. Regardless of the reasons, it has become a very serious problem and there is a huge health and financial cost associated with it.

How has our life style really changed so much that it is causing us to put on too much weight? Many experts will give an emphatic yes to this question. For one thing, too many people are now leading more sedentary lives. We have become less and less active and we know that physical activity helps with personal weight control. Many people have become consumed by their daily work routine and schedules so much that they leave little or no time for exercise. Not even a simple thing like taking a walk each day!

If you need to lose weight you will have to begin to add some exercise into your daily routine. It is an important piece of the puzzle. However, some people think that this is all that is required to lose weight. The reality is that the food we eat is also a very important factor in losing and controlling our weight. There are no magic pills or diets that do the trick. We have to control what we eat and include more physical activity in our daily routines if we want to maintain a healthy weight.

Because many families now have both parents working, there is a tendency to eat fast foods rather than take the time to prepare more nutritious meals at home. Many will tell you that they just don’t have the time to prepare meals. We now have a generation of young people growing up on practically nothing but fast foods. Habits are hard to break, and so it is with the foods we eat. It is any wonder people have so much difficulty losing weight when they have been brought up on fast foods?

How serious is the weight problem? Is it something that is being perpetuated by the weight loss industry in order to sell more diets or exercise equipment? No, it is a real problem and a serious one. Many people who have been diagnosed as being obese are also suffering from a variety of different illnesses including heart disease and diabetes. Very often these illnesses provide the catalyst needed for people to address their obesity problem and embark on a program to change their dietary habits and lose weight. The healthy diet required to address the illness is often the same diet required to help them to lose weight.

For some reason people do not seem to be taking there weight problems with much concern. Many appear to have fallen into a state of confusion with regards to their weight. So many people are ill informed. They have no idea of the harm they are doing to themselves when they eat poorly balanced diets. They think they diet foods are good for them when in fact the reverse is true and these foods are actually contributing to their obesity.

If people want to lose weight steps have to be taken to change the way we view this issue. If people are not educated on the seriousness of the weight issue it will only get worse. Although a certain sympathy is appropriate for those people who apparently “know no better”, it is incumbent upon all of us to be well informed and to be in a position to make educated choices. Prevention is always better than cure, but if you are already in the unfortunate position of being overweight you have a second chance to reverse the situation, to learn how to lose weight quickly and improve your overall health.

Healthy Weight Loss

It would be so great if we could lose weight when ever we wanted to. Some people may even tell you that they can do such a thing, but is it a healthy weight loss? Two things we have to keep in mind when losing weight is keep it healthy and keep it off! Many people tend to get on the weight loss yo-yo, losing and gaining, losing and gaining. The problem with this is that we usually gain more weight than we started with as we go up and down. The most difficult change in our lives is to change the way we eat and what we eat. Our eating habits got us into the excess weight situation and it is the only thing that will get us out of it.

It is amazing how people will forgo their health in order to lose weight as fast as possible. Healthy weight loss has to be the main focus of any weight loss plan. Anything less can and will only result in more problems. And if more problems arise we tend to get discouraged with our attempts at losing weight and tend to give up. It is a lot easier to sit back and do nothing than struggle with our weight. Sometimes the path of least resistance is the path we follow.

But as individuals we have to find the inner strength to continue. We have to overcome our discouragement and continue to struggle but with a positive attitude. If we are determined and focused we can lose those extra pounds. And changing our eating habits is the one thing that will lead us to success. It doesn’t matter how much exercising you do, if you fail to make the necessary changes in your eating habits you will never lose the weight.

I have compiled a list of do’s and don’t that you may find helpful in your weight loss efforts. Healthy Weight Loss is basically trying to keep these things in perspective. The problem is that there are so many people out there offering their opinion on what we should and shouldn’t do to lose weight and many of them who “think” they know, are actually giving you false information. Here is my list of well researched healthy weight loss tips, I hope you find them helpful.

DON’T…

DON’T forget that although calories count, it is no use counting calories and not taking sensible account of the need to eat healthy weight reducing foods.

Don’t reduce you calories too low as your body will think it is in starvation mode and reduce your metabolism.

DON’T go it alone. Get support from others.

DON’T be fooled by the latest fad diet. If it sounds too good to be true, then it probably is.

DON’T drink your calories – eat them. Solid food provides greater satisfaction and provides the body with what it needs to function optimally.

DON’T let others tell you what’s right for you. You need to lose weight for yourself.

DON’T set unrealistic goals. You should expect to lose about 1-2 pounds per week. That is realistic.

DON’T get distracted. Losing weight takes time.

DO………

· DO monitor your progress. Weighing yourself once a week and taking your measurements. Measurements can often be a better indicator of progress

· DO choose to eat healthy, wholesome foods from all of the food groups. Get the essential nutrients you need, whilst making appropriate choices for weight loss.

· DO exercise. Anything more than what you’re doing now is a plus, but a personally tailored exercise regime will show results much quicker.

· DO eat a protein rich breakfast every day.

· DO eat plenty of fruits, vegetables, to ensure there is plenty of fibre in your diet.

· DO learn positive coping skills so that you don’t turn to food for comfort.

· DO drink at least six 8oz.glasses of water every day.

· DO eat enough food to satisfy you. Starvation is not the way forward

· DO benefit from the experience of others who have successfully lost weight and maintained their weight loss

Success can be yours in the weight loss arena. Stay focused and committed. And when you have one of those bad days where you eat something you shouldn’t have, don’t quit. Take it as a weak moment and start again the next day. You will never succeed if you give up! Healthy weight loss requires making life changes. Make those changes and you will be glad you did.

How to Lose Weight

More and more people are wanting to know how to lose weight, but more importantly keep it off. Almost anyone that is serious about losing weight can achieve the desired weight loss. The difficult thing is to be able to keep those unwanted pounds off and maintain a healthy weight. Keeping the weight off is very difficult and this is where many people fail. This is the sad part because so many health problems can develop from being over weight. Once you lose the weight you must have a maintenance strategy to keep it off. If not you will regain the weight.

With so much information available on the Internet, this is the first place many people go to start a weight loss program. Sometimes it can be the worst place to start for that reason alone. There is just too much information and it can be very confusing. Don’t be afraid to go to a doctor and get some professional advice before you start any program. Always make sure that your body can adapt to the changes you are about to go through as you lose weight.

Another problem with people wanting to know how to lose weight is that much of the information on the Internet may not have any scientific research to support it. This can be very dangerous! In my opinion you need to be careful when selecting a program to follow. After reviewing and selecting a program you want to follow, speak with your Doctor. If you have any medical challenges they can help reduce complications in dieting. There is so much out there that you may not know where there may be reactions to specific diets on lose weight. Your Doctor may not know but they see all types of challenges from lose weight diets. Chemical reactions from diets can create minor to major problems. You should consult with a professional when you lose weight that is my opinion.

How to lose weight has almost become an obsession within our society today. Our lifestyle has certainly played a major role in many people becoming overweight. The population today is so weight loss conscious, it is a multi billion dollar industry. Being weight conscious has created many problems for people even death. So when you plan to lose weight you don’t want to become a statistic. Be sure whatever weight loss plan you begin is the one for you. Tips to Lose Weight

Anyone trying to lose weight is always open to some good tips to lose weight. And as we all know, everyone we talk to has a tip or two that they swear is the best thing since sliced bread. And for them it may have been the tip that helped them lose weight. But it may not be the one for you. How can you find out? Really, the only true way is to try it. But it is impossible to try all the tips we are told about so we have to be careful and choose wisely. This will involve doing some research.

When we lose weight, we have to realize that it comes of our entire body and not just one spot. It would be great if we could pick one spot, like our stomach, and just lose weight there. But it doesn’t work that way. Many people believe that if they do lots of exercise that they will miraculously lose weight and have a toned body. But of course that is only part of the equation. In fact it is only 10% of the equation. To achieve successful weight loss you must seriously consider that nutrition is 90% of the answer.

When looking for tips to lose weight we can be over-whelmed by the information available, especially on the Internet. The major problem that arises for most people when it comes to diet is that there is so much conflicting information available about weight loss diets. Which foods should you eat and which foods should you avoid if you are wanting to know how to lose weight. It is quite a crucial piece of information. One thing is certain – all fad diets should be avoided. They mainly aim at fast weight loss and although they may have a measure of success for those who want to lose weight fast for a special occasion they will inevitably put the weight back on again as soon as thy resume their normal eating habits.

Many people can lose weight, but many of these same people have difficulty keeping the weight off for any sustained length of time. It always seems to come back. In order to lose weight and maintain that weight loss it is important to cut back on carbohydrates such as bread, pasta and potatoes and increase the amount of protein. Its is also important to be aware of the fact that fat isn’t all bad. There are some very good fats called mono unsaturated fatty acids MUFAs contained in foods such as almonds, peanut butter, and avocado that actually help you to lose weight.

Remember as you search the many tips to lose weight, you have to be very selective. Try the ones that you think you may be able to use without a lot of difficulty. A regime to help you to lose weight needs to be carefully planned to ensure that you stick to it. It is also very helpful to write down everything you eat each day as a reminder and also to help highlight any tricky areas. As far as exercise is concerned it is essential to find out the correct exercises necessary to help you to lose weight and remove your stubborn belly fat. You may find some general information online but it is always advisable initially to engage the help of a personal trainer. Tell them you want to lose weight and they will tailor an exercise regime to suit you. They may well even give you some dietary advice as well

Natural Weight Loss

Natural Weight Loss

Some of us who are desperate to lose weight will do almost anything to make it happen. And that means some things that may not be in our best interest, such as trying to lose weight too fast. Starvation diets, diet pills, over exercising. I think you get the picture. Will such methods result in weight loss? Of course, but at what cost? If you need to lose weight, find a plan that is sensible and enjoy the effects of natural weight loss. It may take longer but your body will not be harmed.

For those of us who are overweight, we know how the problem developed. It just didn’t happen over-night. It probably took a number of years. It just crept up on us! And it won’t go away over-night either. It takes work. Everyone wants to be in shape but exercise is not typically on their list of priorities. Too many people are looking for an easier way. With the abilities of plastic surgery and instant fixes, people are always in search of a shortcut. Why spend an hour at the gym for a few months, when you can just head to the doctor for a nip or a tuck?

Even though people know that the easy way is not always the best way, they still tend to take the path of least resistance. It has almost become embedded in our society. A prime concern with this quick-fix method is the results. Natural weight loss offers a much sounder outcome. One thing we should always remember in life is, if it’s too good to be true, then it probably is. Achieving and maintaining a nice figure is no simple matter. It’s an ongoing process.

If you have to lose weight, doing the simple things can have a great impact on our life. A thing as simple as eating healthier food. It just makes us feel better. A daily regimen of exercise can keep our weight down and our bodies toned. This method of healthy weight loss is typically the best and safest way to go. You have to remember that when you keep a horrible diet and simply resort to going under the knife for a prompt solution, nothing is really gained. The weight will come back. Only when you change your diet and lifestyle can you achieve permanent success.

With so many different weight loss plans available, it can be very tempting to try one of those fad diets. But natural weight loss isn’t referred to as natural for nothing. When we allow our body good nourishment and low fat, it takes a natural path of its own. By adding a daily exercise routine, we boost our metabolism, which keeps that weight down. Plastic surgery is all too often misunderstood. Many do not understand the measures that must be taken prior to and after the surgery. Your diet certainly plays a part in the surgery’s success. Not to mention exercise is necessary for proper healing. It’s not
just a quick in and out.

The goal of weight loss is to improve our health and enjoy the benefits of having a healthier body. It can be difficult for many but doing it the right way is the only way. Whether you’re struggling with your weight or simply trying to drop a
few pounds, natural weight loss is usually the best path.

A Healthy Diet for Controlled Weight Loss

Why is our society becoming so unhealthy? More and more people are becoming obese and it is occurring at an alarming rate. It not only affects adults but now our children are facing the same problem. The money spent on health care is growing each year when in reality we should be spending less on health care because of the advances in the field of medicine. Of course weight is not the only health problem we face but it has certainly become a major issue. People have to learn how to achieve healthy weight loss rather than thinking pills will solve the problem.

Just how serious is the health issue in our society? The statistics may alarm you, but usually we don’t see the real problem until it affects us directly. In the United States alone, in the year 2000, the population was 276 million. Nearly half of the population — 125 million Americans — lived with some type of chronic condition. About 60 million lived with multiple chronic conditions. Examples of chronic conditions are diabetes, cancer, glaucoma and heart disease. The number of people with chronic conditions is growing at an alarming rate and this does not include the over-weight and obese people, who are trying and failing in their attempts at healthy weight loss. So Why Are We Sick?

Some may think my next statement will be foolish, unfounded or even cynical. Regardless, we are all free to have our own opinions, one of the freedoms of living in this great country. So here goes. I believe that basically there is so much sickness because poor health is economically profitable for a lot of big companies and shareholders. Including:

* The food industry with all the ‘designer’ junk foods and beverages that hold no nutritional value and actually make us fat(overweight) and sick.

* All the polluting industries that fill our lives and bodies with harmful chemicals and toxins.

* The ’sick care’ industry that figured out long ago that there’s a lot more money to be made in treating symptoms with drugs and surgeries in expensive hospitals than in patient education, prevention and natural medicine and weight loss.

The huge multi-national companies have changed the way we live. From the way we entertain ourselves to the way we eat. We live in the age of fast food, canned food, frozen food, packaged food, and many other types of processed and ‘convenience foods’. All this food is intended to cater for the modern stressful lifestyle we are all leading. If you wish to lead a healthy life it is important to realize that you need to take responsibility for the food you eat. You need to educate yourself to understand the effects that processed foods can have on your health and also for those who are obese the effect processed food can have on your attempt at healthy weight loss.

Our foods have almost become unnatural. So many of the nutrients have been removed and artificial substitutes used to replace them. And some of these ingredients can be harmful to us. Foods that are now termed partially hydrogenated vegetable oils contain trans fats, which are harmful. Trans fats increase the bad cholesterol (LDL) and deplete the good cholesterol (HDL) levels. They make arteries rigid and clog them, resulting in heart problems. They cause insulin resistance and contribute to Type 2 diabetes. Trans fats pose a serious overall health risk, much more serious than saturated fats found in meat and dairy products. Don’t be tempted by their claims to improve healthy weight loss.

The marketing of these foods has become an issue that affects us all. Are we really being told all the facts about what is in the foods we eat? It can be very tempting to buy processed foods that state that they are “low-calorie” or “healthy” or “diet” or “low sugar” and so on. Despite their labels, they are probably more likely to add to your weight problems and your health risks. Even ready-to-eat meals supplied by the food outlets that seem to make your life comfortable and easy may have used processed food products, so be wary particularly if healthy weight loss is what you are aiming for.

If you want to make a change in your life then start by changing what foods you eat. It can dramatically improve your health.
Depend more on fresh foods and do not be discouraged just because they are a little more expensive. If you have to sacrifice some of the “luxuries” you enjoy. It will be worth it. Eat wholesome fresh foods in the interest of maintaining good health and ensuring healthy weight loss.

Lose Weight with the GI Diet

For those searching for ways to lose weight, the task can be very confusing. There are so many different weight loss plans and diets that if one does not know what they are looking for, they simply could be just wasting their time. Without taking the time to do some research you could be buying into a plan that is ineffective or may even be harmful to your body. One of the most important pieces of advice you could ever take is to visit your doctor and so some research on your own as you try to decide which weight loss plan is for you.

If your doctor is staying current with the weight loss industry, he may direct you to this particular weight loss strategy. One of the most popular ways to lose weight is to choose foods according to their Glycemic Load (GL). All food has a glycemic index (GI) which is a qualitative measure that tells you whether the carbohydrate it contains is fast or slow releasing. The Glycemic Load tells you more about the effect that food will have on your weight, i.e. whether or not it will cause you to put on weight.

There are certainly more ways than one to lose weight. And what works for one person may not work for another. If we are to believe that the most effective way to lose weight and keep it off is to by establishing your blood sugar and insulin response to food, then we need to pay attention to the ways to achieve this. Keeping the blood sugar balanced depends not only on what we eat but also when we eat it. Firstly we need to reduce the amount of carbohydrate in our diets. We also need choose foods/carbohydrates with a low glycemic-load (GL), combine carbohydrates with protein and cut back on stimulants and stress.
To lose weight on this diet it is important to make sure that you eat no more than 40 GL a day and at main meals you should eat low GL carbohydrates with protein rich foods.

We all know that foods lose some of their nutrients when they are cooked and as a result it ultimately alters somewhat their effect on the body. How a food is processed, prepared or cooked is a key element in the GL of a food and therefore the effect it will have on your blood sugar. If you eat spaghetti if example your blood sugar levels and your insulin levels will rise quite gently until the body produces insulin and then they drop. However if you eat white bread they will rise twice as high and then drops down much lower. It is the peaks that damage your arteries making them less responsive to insulin and the troughs that leave you tired and sleepy and craving carbohydrates and or stimulants. It is strange that two foods made of roughly the same flour can have such different effects on the body. This is probably due to the fact that bread is cooked for longer than spaghetti. Needless to say eating white bread will do nothing to help you to lose weight.

The GI diet may seem a bit complicated but if you take the time to learn and understand the concept it may be the plan you have been looking for. The Glycemic Index the levels to which different foods raise your blood sugar compared with the effect of pure glucose. The more complex the carbohydrate, the lower the GI, as it will take longer for the sugar to be broken down and released into the blood stream . For example apples and oats are slow releasing and raisins and puffed rice cereal are fast releasing. So the foods you choose to help you to lose weight should be from the Low Glycemic Index foods

One “problem” with the GI diet is that you have to use your common sense with some choices. For example, just the GI score as a guide you will find that certain foods such as carrots and chocolate have similar scores and clearly it would be foolish to choose the chocolate over the carrots if you want to avoid the blood sugar highs and lows and ultimately lose weight. The Glycemic Load (GL) is a far better way of predicting the right foods to eat as it is an indicator of what a given serving of food will do to your blood sugar. Remember that balancing your blood sugar and insulin is the only sure way to lose weight and keep it off.
