<p>Much  of the&nbsp; food we eat  is very acidic. I received a question  regarding  coffee and meat specifically.</p>
<p>&nbsp;First, let me go back and explain  the ph level of human blood. The ph  level range is  from 0 to 14 with 7 right in the middle. Any number  above 7 is alkaline, getting more so as it gets to 14. On the acidic  side, the lower the number, the more acidic it is.</p>
<p>The human blood ph level is 7.35 to 7.45, decidedly on the alkaline  side of the equation. When there  happens to be too much acid  inside the food, the body  must  destroy it to  defend itself. It does this by  taking  calcium from the bones.</p>
<p>Therefore an acidic food like cow&rsquo;s milk in truth deprives the body  of calcium because of the neutralizing that occurs and the calcium in  the milk cannot actually be processed by the body.</p>
<p>Meat and coffee are both acidic , roughly the 3.0 ph level. If you are  going to  indulge yourself in acidic foods at times, you need to offset it with  lots of fresh greens, the most alkaline foods there are.</p>
<p>There are many factors in the <a title="www.hippocrateshealthlifestyle.com/" href="http://www.hippocrateshealthlifestyle.com/" target="_blank">Hippocrates Health  Institute</a> program that blend to help you into accelerated healing.   Eating a very alkaline diet and staying away from the acidic foods that we   may be tempted to eat is an important part of why it works so well.</p>
<p>A truly great question has prompted me to add  that those of you who are interested in  gaining an understanding of the science behind  these statements and learning a lot more  about why eating animal protein  weakens the bones: you  definitely need to  read The China Study by T. Colin  Campbell. On page 205 he discusses  the  studies done to support this.</p>
<p>But the entire  book, The China Study, is the product  of  some  decades of  studies done in China that  showed beyond all  doubt, at  least for me and many others, that meat and dairy are very unhealthy for  our bodies.</p></p>

And having a plan is one of the most important aspects of losing weight. If you do not have a plan then your chances of being successful are very low. You will have no focus and before you know it you will be giving up on your attempts to lose those extra pounds.<br />

And there should be no reason why you don&#8217;t have a plan. There are so many available that it can become a problem trying to choose. But don&#8217;t keep choosing new plans each week. Are you a weight loss yoyo-er? Do you lose weight only to put it back on again time after time? Perhaps you even put more weight on than before and your weight is gradually creeping up higher and higher and you don&#8217;t know what to do about it. Well, it may help you to know that you are not alone in this and weight loss yoyo-ers are on the increase.<br />
<P><br />
Being a person that goes on and then of a weight loss plan on a continuous basis is not a good idea. Once you get into the cycle of weight off &#8211; weight on, your body, not surprisingly, becomes confused. Once upon a time your body had a set point, a weight that was the norm for you. With repeated weight gain followed by weight loss followed by weight gain etc etc,  your body is constantly changing that set point until it is at a higher rate than you would like it to be. It can then be very difficult to attain the weight loss you so desire. Your body plateaus and any further weight loss seems like an impossibility. When this happens we often we get frustrated and disheartened and give up on the weight loss diet thinking it isn&#8217;t working. This inevitably results in our weight starting to increase once again to an unacceptable level. This is far from being a <A HREF="http://healthy-weight-loss-programs.net/12/healthy-weight-loss-7/">healthy weight loss </A> plan.<br />
<P><br />
If this is so important what can a person do? How can one regulate their set point in order to control their weight loss attempts. First and foremost, it is important to realize that you are going to have to be far more persistent in your approach to healthy weight loss. One of the reasons you find it difficult to sustain your weight loss is because your adrenal glands have become exhausted. Very often when you have been on a weight loss diet  month after month, perhaps not following a well structured diet, maybe cutting calories or missing meals or eating too many carbohydrates, your body is constantly in a fight or flight state. This situation will inevitably leave you tired confusing your metabolism and encouraging it to turn to stimulants such as tea, coffee, and diet drinks as a pick me up to compensate for what may well have been an energy deficient diet. Unfortunately this just activates the sympathetic nervous system to release more stress hormones which in turn requires more stimulants and so the cycle goes on and weight loss becomes less and less likely. This vicious circle can be almost impossible to break without professional help.<br />
<P><br />
Lacking knowledge on how to properly lose weight can hurt you. You can do harm to your body if it does not get the proper nutrients. For example, people who have been on a &#8220;not so healthy&#8221; weight loss diet will inevitably have lost some muscle as well as fat. As muscle burns energy this will not help your weight loss regime as a decreased muscle mass means a lower metabolic rate. Yet another vicious cycle your body has to find a way to break. This increases your chances gaining weight rather than losing weight and so the yoyo effect continues.<br />
<P><br />

Your future health is dependant on you losing weight so take your diet seriously. You need to be patient and remember it has probably taken you many years to become over weight particularly if you have been a weight loss yoyo-er, so it is likely take time to crack the cycle and achieve permanent weight loss. For most people losing weight is one of the most difficult things they have ever tried to achieve. For others it is no big deal. Wouldn&#8217;t it be great to look at weight loss as no big deal? Sadly though it is a big deal, and in many cases it can be such a big deal that ones life depends upon losing weight.<br />

With so many different weight loss programs available people can get confused as to the direction they should take. How you are you going to lose weight or are you? Many people need to lose weight, but it seems people are just not interested in doing it. It seems to have become more the style now to be overweight. Having meat on your bones seems to be in. My goal was not to be skinny but to be a comfortable weight where I felt good, and looked good in my clothes. The look of Twiggy back in the days gone by was not my taste.<br />
<P><br />
If you are serious about losing some of those extra pounds that you have accumulated over the years, the marketplace is wide open with diets, equipment and programs that all target weight loss. Choose ones that you feel comfortable with. If you are going to purchase speciality foods to help you <A HREF="http://ez-lose-weight.com/09/lose-weight-913/">lose weight</A>, be sure that its taste will agree with you. There are a number of companies with shakes that are delicious. I tried one that tasted so good I use it as a treat instead of to lose weight. They are usually a meal replacement. That cuts out a lot of calories for the day.<br />

Reducing your calorie intake is only part of the plan when it comes to losing weight. After you choose which diet you will be going on to lose weight, it would be good to also think of what exercise program you would like to get involved in. Without exercise, to lose weight would probably not produce the figure you want to have. You need to strengthen the muscle to keep the skin from sagging. If money is not a problem you can join a gym and get a trainer to help you. If you can’t afford that luxury, don’t get discouraged. Many people have lost weight without the help of either. I like the Classical Stretch program that I have found on TV. It tightens and lengthens muscles, making you firm. In addition to those benefits, you can also gain some height. I gained a half inch in height and some have gained an inch. Stretching exercises also improves balance which is beneficial.<br />

Regardless of the method you decide to use to <A HREF="http://ez-lose-weight.com/09/lose-weight-20/">lose weight</A>, it must be part of a plan. If you fail to have a plan you can plan to fail. Having a goal to lose weight and firm up is a tremendous benefit to anyone. You will look better and feel better as well. It is a good idea to set goals along the way and find some way to reward you. I don’t recommend using food. For a reward after you are down to the weight you want to get to, reward yourself with something you have been wanting in the line of clothes, whether it is a bikini or a new pair of trousers. You deserve something for all you have accomplished. Celebrate the occasion and hold the line. You are a winner. And every time you look in the mirror or step on the scales you will realize your accomplishment.<br />

There are so many different plans, diets and schemes that many people really don&#8217;t know which way to turn when it comes to weight loss, let alone healthy weight loss. However, information is certainly available if one will take the time to search it out.<br />

We all know that people lose or gain weight at different rates. We are all unique individuals and just as we have different talents and different attitudes so we also have different body types. Your body type is a scientific classification of your overall body shape, and and it is determined by a combination of certain physical characteristics. Your genes determine your body type therefore, your body shape will develop from birth to adulthood. Body types can never be changed and no matter what type you possess, you can still achieve weight loss relatively quickly with the correct choices of food and tactics for weight loss or weight control.<br />
<P><br />
I&#8217;m sure that many, if not most, people don&#8217;t even consider their body type as they embark on a weight loss plan. There are three basic body types for male and female are: Endomorph, Ectomorph and Mesomorph. Endomorphs: The naturally big boned person characterized with a round face, a soft and flabby body in general, wide hips, bigger waist, slow metabolism and high number of fat cells. This type usually finds weight loss a constant struggle. Ectomorphs: The skinny person with a linear appearance, small muscles, ultra fast metabolism, low body fat, narrow shoulders, hips and waist. Doesn&#8217;t usually have to worry about weight loss. Mesomorphs: The naturally muscular person with wide shoulders, small waist, athletic build, low body fat percentage with an increase metabolism.<br />
<P><br />
How important is knowing our body type in planning a <A HREF="http://healthy-weight-loss-programs.com/11/healthy-weight-loss-5/">healthy weight loss</A> plan? Doe sit really play a significant role? Regardless of our body type, if we want to achieve weight loss we need to create a negative energy balance or a calorie deficit. The number of calories we cut from our intake needs to be sufficient enough in order to see some results fairly quickly. So if we begin a new diet by cutting our calorie intake by about 500 per day we will lose weight over the course of a week or two. However just cutting calories is now not deemed to be a sensible way to approach weight loss.<br />
<P><br />
Anyone who had tried to lose weight certainly knows the role of the mighty calorie. So what happens to our bodies when we choose to cut calories? During a calorie deficit our bodies still require the same amount of energy so they start to use up energy stores to make up for this 500 calorie deficit. However, as our bodies inevitably use up extra proteins for energy AND to maintain normal protein synthesis, we end up with a net loss of total protein. This results in a gradual loss of lean muscle, and this is the start of a lowered metabolism and consequently a slower weight loss.<br />
<P><br />
When we lose weight, sometimes what we see on the outside does not reflect what is taking place on the inside. Muscle loss may not be obvious when looking in the mirror because the body will take it from other, less priority areas and not just from our skeletal muscles. The stomach is a classic area where protein is broken down for use, as there&#8217;s less need for a large stomach capacity because we have lowered our food intake. Ever noticed how we can no longer eat those big meals we once used to eat before dieting? It would appear therefore that although you may need to cut down on the amount of food you it is vitally important you don&#8217;t drastically cut your calories as you may be doing your body and your weight loss more harm than good. It would be so great if we could lose weight when ever we wanted to. Two things we have to keep in mind when losing weight is keep it healthy and keep it off! Many people tend to get on the weight loss yo-yo, losing and gaining, losing and gaining. The problem with this is that we usually gain more weight than we started with as we go up and down. The most difficult change in our lives is to change the way we eat and what we eat. Our eating habits got us into the excess weight situation and it is the only thing that will get us out of it.<br />

It is amazing how people will forgo their health in order to lose weight as fast as possible. <B>Healthy weight loss</B> has to be the main focus of any weight loss plan. Anything less can and will only result in more problems. And if more problems arise we tend to get discouraged with our attempts at losing weight and tend to give up. It is a lot easier to sit back and do nothing than struggle with our weight. Sometimes the path of least resistance is the path we follow.<br />

But as individuals we have to find the inner strength to continue. We have to overcome our discouragement and continue to struggle but with a positive attitude. Why is our society becoming so unhealthy? More and more people are becoming obese and it is occurring at an alarming rate. It not only affects adults but now our children are facing the same problem. The money spent on health care is growing each year when in reality we should be spending less on health care because of the advances in the field of medicine. Of course weight is not the only health problem we face but it has certainly become a major issue. People have to learn how to achieve <A HREF="http://healthy-weight-loss-programs.com/10/healthy-weight-loss-3/">healthy weight loss</A> rather than thinking pills will solve the problem.<br />

Just how serious is the health issue in our society? The statistics may alarm you, but usually we don&#8217;t see the real problem until it affects us directly. In the United States alone, in the year 2000, the population was 276 million. Nearly half of the population &#8212; 125 million Americans &#8212; lived with some type of chronic condition. About 60 million lived with multiple chronic conditions. Examples of chronic conditions are diabetes, cancer, glaucoma and heart disease. The number of people with chronic conditions is growing at an alarming rate and this does not include the over-weight and obese people, who are trying and failing in their attempts at healthy weight loss. So Why Are We Sick?<br />

Some may think my next statement will be foolish, unfounded or even cynical. Regardless, we are all free to have our own opinions, one of the freedoms of living in this great country. So here goes. I believe that basically there is so much sickness because poor health is economically profitable for a lot of big companies and shareholders. Including:<BR><br />
* The food industry with all the &#8216;designer&#8217; junk foods and beverages that hold no nutritional value and actually make us fat(overweight) and sick.<BR><br />
* All the polluting industries that fill our lives and bodies with harmful chemicals and toxins.<BR><br />
* The &#8216;sick care&#8217; industry that figured out long ago that there&#8217;s a lot more money to be made in treating symptoms with drugs and surgeries in expensive hospitals than in patient education, prevention and natural medicine and weight loss.<br />
<P><br />
The huge multi-national companies have changed the way we live. From the way we entertain ourselves to the way we eat. We live in the age of fast food, canned food, frozen food, packaged food, and many other types of processed and  &#8216;convenience foods&#8217;. All this food is intended to cater for the modern stressful lifestyle we are all leading. If you wish to lead a healthy life it is important to realize that you need to take responsibility for the food you eat. You need to educate yourself to understand the effects that processed foods can have on your health and also for those who are obese the effect processed food can have on your attempt at <A HREF="http://healthy-weight-loss-programs.com/12/healthy-weight-loss-7/">healthy weight loss</A>.<br />

The marketing of these foods has become an issue that affects us all. Are we really being told all the facts about what is in the foods we eat? It can be very tempting to buy processed foods that state that they are &#8220;low-calorie&#8221; or &#8220;healthy&#8221; or &#8220;diet&#8221; or &#8220;low sugar&#8221; and so on. Despite their labels, they are probably more likely to add to your weight problems and your health risks. Even ready-to-eat meals supplied by the food outlets that seem to make your life comfortable and easy may have used processed food products, so be wary particularly if healthy weight loss is what you are aiming for.<br />

All food has a glycemic index (GI) which is a qualitative measure that tells you whether the carbohydrate it contains is fast or slow releasing. The Glycemic Load (GL) is a far better way of predicting the right foods to eat as it is an indicator of what a given serving of food will do to your blood sugar. Two out of three American citizens are classed as overweight, whereas as many as one in three have been diagnosed as clinically obese. Between $50 billion  and $90 billion are spent each year on products and services to lose weight, including diet foods and drinks, slimming clubs and centers, and surgery to name but a few.<br />

The most important factor in weight loss is changing your life style. Money does not make you lose weight. Despite the fact that all this money is spent on an annual basis the weight loss problem refuses to go away. So why are we getting such poor results from the various methods employed to help people to lose weight? Maybe they are not making the necessary changes in their lives. Our everyday foods, as well as diet foods are highly processed and are virtually devoid of any vital nutrients. If you are like many people, you no doubt have been on a number of diets or weight loss programs over the years. And if you are like many people you have not been successful at keeping the weight permanently off. Somehow it keeps coming back! However, some of the simple things we should be doing on a regular basis can help us maintain our desired weight. For example: walking. A simple activity such as walking each day can have tremendous results and it is a great way to achieve <A HREF="http://healthy-weight-loss-programs.net/10/healthy-weight-loss/">healthy weight loss</A>.<br />
<P><br />
Some of us may discover too late in life how important walking is. But then it is better late than never. I discovered the walking and weight loss connection while I was a student in college. Most freshman college students gain between twenty and thirty pounds in their first year at school. For the first time in many students&#8217; lives, they have to make their own decisions about eating and exercise. Many students&#8217; walking program consists of walking from the dormitory to the classroom and back.<br />
<P><br />
When I started walking I wasn&#8217;t aware that one should have some sort of plan to follow. I was one of the students who had no real walking program. I didn&#8217;t make the connection between walking and weight loss right away. I wound up gaining twenty-five pounds in the first semester of college, but I didn&#8217;t realize that I needed to connect walking and weight loss until I tried dieting.<br />
<P><br />
Sometimes we cannot see the trees because of the forest. It is right in front of us but we can&#8217;t see. Before I started a walking program in school, the idea of walking and <B>weight loss</B> being so closely tied together did not occur to me. Instead, I tried changing my diet. I ate salads at nearly every meal. I had no breakfast and I did not really have a whole meal until the evening. I probably only took in about nine hundred calories each day, but I did not see very good results. I had to think back to a time when I was fit to make the walking and weight loss connection.<br />
<P><br />
I&#8217;m sure some of you know how it feels to be over-weight. It certainly is not the best feeling one can have. Our self esteem can be affected and more problems result. I was a heavy student in high school and I dieted a lot. One diet was very successful for me during the end of my high school career. I was involved in an after school program that I attended every day. Since I could not ride the bus home from school, I simply walked the two mile commute home five days a week. I did not consider this an actual walking program, but it really was. The only differences between my lifestyle in high school and in college were that I ate more and I walked almost every day.<br />
<P><br />
Sometimes it takes awhile for us to make connections with the things we do. Sometimes we even fail to make any connections. However, once I made the walking and <A HREF="http://healthy-weight-loss-programs.com/10/natural-weight-loss/">natural weight loss</A> connection, the rest was easy. I just started a simple walking program that consisted of taking a relaxing walk at least three times each week. I did not really worry about dieting, but I made sure to eat breakfast and to eat small meals throughout the day. I also avoided eating after eight o&#8217;clock in the evening. Within a few weeks, I found myself proving the walking and weight loss connection. I lost the twenty five pounds. A simple walking program can be tremendously effective to help you lose weight. Of course, as with any program, you must stick with it. Now get out there and start walking!<br />

It would be easy to believe that the global weight problem was just consigned to the adult population but that would be a lie with a frightening number of children who are just starting school having a weight problem. Eventually a decision to do something about the excess weight must be made and those that are serious about it will finally realize that you cannot employ short term methods. Losing weight should be viewed as a long term health benefit and the use of <B>weight loss</B> pills to help accelerate the process is not necessarily the best course of action.

These drugs usually work buy telling the brain it is no longer hungry and stimulating the metabolic rate to aid the shedding of calories. The problem arose when it was found after studies that one of the side effects from this type of drug was the increased risk of heart valve disease and of course it was quickly withdrawn from use. Not to be defeated though, manufacturers have introduced updated drugs, prescribed by doctors but the FDA approval process is slow.
<P>
These weight loss pills have become popular and you can almost guarantee that you will be aware of someone who has tried them with success. The idea that a simple drug can change everything without the need to change the diet or sacrificing anything is very tempting. As a consequence, drug companies spend millions of dollars in research on <B>weight loss pill</B>s while consumers spend even more to buy the pills.

Weight loss pills</B> can be purchased either over-the-counter or prescribed by a doctor but even with the advances in medical technology, these drugs can still cause a lot of health related problems which can be unpleasant such as diarrhea and vomiting. Other harmful side effects such as tightness in the chest and urinary tract problems and fatal such as a stroke and an overdose of the diet pills can cause tremors, confusion, hallucinations, shallow breathing, renal failure even heart attack and convulsions.
<P>
The best course of action before taking any type of pill is to check with your doctor as there are many factors that could contribute to any problems you experience but it does not stop even when you cease taking the pills. These effects can be equally unpleasant in the same way that weight control pills are, like irritability, vomiting, depression, fatigue and insomnia to name only a few of the reported conditions.
<P>
Despite all the bad publicity, weight loss pills do work but there is a better chance if they are used in conjunction with a low calorie diet and regular exercise, preferably using a properly worked out exercise regime. A low calorie diet would consist of meals that contain vitamins, minerals and fiber which are all essential for good health; the best source is fruit and vegetables.

More than this, the manufacturer also claims that helps with the body's self healing mechanism and reduces some pains but is sounds more like a fashion accessory.

Apparently the magnetism in the earrings helps to keep the body's own magnetic field synchronized and so the other benefits should be expected. To date, no evidence to support this has been submitted to any health or medical journals despite a number of press releases making these bold claims.
<P>
You can believe these claims if you want but inside you know that things that aren't worked for do not last. If you want a fast weight loss program that will work, you will need to find a well balanced diet that suits you, one you can stick to and weight loss will happen just as fast as you want it to.
