Weight loss for the over 40’s crowd

It seemed so easy in our 20’s and 30’s to stay in shape. Do you remember the good old days? Times certainly change as we get older, especially more noticeable as we get into our 40’s. If you are in the over 40’s age bracket, then you may be aware that your metabolism has started to slow down a little and your ability to sustain or lose weight has become more difficult. The older you get the more aware you will become of this happening to your body.

The fact is, as we get older the need to be concerned about keeping our metabolism fired up increases and ensures that weight loss doesn’t become an issue for us. As our bodies undergo the ravages of time, keeping that belly flat becomes even more important as we attempt to look and feel our best.

I’m sure if you have done any reading at all about the weight loss subject, we know only too well that diet alone isn’t enough for consistent and sustained weight loss. In addition to diet exercise is an vital part of the equation. However what a lot of people don’t realize is that only certain types of exercise will give them the desired results. If you want to develop a flat belly and a well defined six pack then you must follow the recomended protocols

Hundreds of crunches, leg lifts, and twists, may feel as though you are doing all the right things yet a six-pack is nowhere to be found. Sound familiar? If so, it’s time you got off the floor and on your feet again, because the only way you’re going to achieve the shape you want is to reduce your body fat. In fact you will not only be reducing your body fat but you will be turning it into lean muscle

Generally speaking, the men and women you see adorning the pages of fitness magazines have a body fat percentage of less than ten percent. And, as you can tell by looking at them, they definitely have ab muscles. The truth of the matter is - so do you; the only difference is you can’t see yours, because they’re hidden behind a layer of subcutaneous fat.

In order to shed this fatty layer and expose your six-pack, stick to a well balanced diet. No simple sugars (that includes white flour products), eat plenty of good quality protein, and follow a cardio program that works for you. This means engaging in a high-intensity interval training workout, which has been shown to reduce fat at a rapid rate thus enhancing weight loss

One of the best ways to stay in shape is to incorporate a resistance training program, into your fitness regime. A weightlifting circuit routine is probably a good idea as this will have the effect of building lean muscle which in turn will help to raise your metabolism and burn fat. Follow this approach your ab muscles will be evident in no time. It is important to beware that even though your goal may be to lose weight you may find that your weight loss becomes a weight gain in the short term due to the fact that muscle weighs heavier than fat

As we get older, it is important to have resistant training. This type of exercise regime is not just for the youthful members of our world but for the older generation also. In fact it is thought that general health is improved in the elderly if they have a sensible fitness regime that incorporates weight training. It is also worth remembering that as our metabolism continues to slow down as we age, correct eating habits and appropriate fitness programs become even more important if we are to have sustained weight loss and are to enjoy full health and fitness as we approach our later years.

Remember age is only a problem if you allow it to be and it really is a mindset. You are what and how you think.

Weight Loss

One of the main problems in society as whole is obesity and over weight people. There are so many programs offering to shed those pounds magically off, it is sometimes hard to distinguish fact from fiction. Have ever walked into a supplement store and asked for information about weight loss, fat-burning or muscle-building supplements? Just look at the shelves full of the latest and greatest weight loss programs.

Have you ever watched TV and listened to a weight loss or fitness guru talk about an amazing new diet, exercise machine or slimming pill. I usually just change the channel. Start by going to Google and having a look around for some weight loss programs. You will simply be amazed at the number of articles online.

If you have done any of the above then the chances are you’ve been told many weight loss lies!

Honest, accurate information about nutrition and weight loss is harder to come by than ever before, and nearly everyone has been misled at one time or another. This may of course be that the so called guru thinks that the information they are giving is correct and may have been misled themselves. But to ensure that you are receiving or giving accurate and honest weight loss information you need to look very carefully at the scientific evidence surrounding the weight loss claims

If you are a regular dieter then you will no doubt be familiar with the problem of belly fat. Belly fat has become the dieters curse. No matter how successful your weight loss program has been undoubtedly you will be left with the problem of stubborn belly fat. This is particularly frustrating for women who are looking for that slim-line figure, but no matter how hard you try the problem persists.

Did you know that women are born with more fat cells than men? That is mainly for the purpose of protecting and nourishing our babies. So weight loss, especially the removal of that stubborn mid section fat, can actually be a lot harder for women than for men.

We are unfortunately a society of everything instant. What I mean is people can’t seem to focus on anything long term and want success now. Whether it be in business or ones health. Getting rid of that bloated belly can be a great incentive for most people. Better to get rid of it from the start than be left with it at the end of your diet.

So what is the cause of this bloated belly?

Inflammation due to foods your body is intolerant to, is one of the main reasons for a bloated belly, especially if that belly is of the pot belly variety. Inflammation and excess gas caused by undigested food particles can be a major cause of both inflammation and a bloated belly. If you suffer from something like the above situation, always check with your family doctor and get professional advice before continuing on any diet or weight loss program.

Most people who have been on a weight loss diet will be familiar with the term water retention and although this can often be more prevalent in the ankles and other joints it can also be a contributory factor for a swollen midsection . For weight loss to take place it is advisable to address these underlying intolerance first especially if you want to a flat belly not a fat belly as a result. You will then feel that your weight loss program will be much more successful. Good luck and keep in mind, its all about balance in life. Sure, you can have a treat once on a while, but just not too many. On the other hand, you need to exercise regularly, eat properly and before long, you too can get back into shape feeling better.

Weight Loss, Is It Impossible?

It’s scary when turn the TV on or just you look around, there’s fat people everywhere and we just keep getting fatter. You would think we could figure this problem out, wouldn’t you? There’s something staring us right in the face and we don’t see it. No one seems to be concerned enough to weight loss. To me, the problem is as obvious as the nose on our face. It’s all about what the food industry is doing to us. They offer us processed foods loaded with fats, sugar and salt. They use chemicals to change our food. It is altered through additives such as flavors, flavor enhances, binders, colors, fillers, preservatives, stabilizers, etc. To make a long story short, we no longer eat natural food. Ya, I know life is busy and we don’t have time to cook at home, so lets all stop at the fast food restaurant. Seems simple enough to address the problem - doesn’t it?

There are many well respected places one can go online to check out the impact of being overweight. A diet exclusive in processed foods will almost certainly lead to health problems in the long run. For example, some suggest countless diseases exist because chemically-synthesized substances disrupt the biochemistry of hundreds of billions of microscopic living cells which make up the body. Some of these diseases cause weight gain and is another reason to lose weight.

If you really study the make up chemically and biologically, our bodies are designed to eat natural, raw foods; there’s no doubt about that. Raw foods contain beneficial enzymes and nutrients that are destroyed through processing. To be realistic though, there’s no way we could all eat only raw foods, but it is recommended that we eat as many fresh fruits and vegetables as possible. Eliminating all processed food is probably not going to happen for most of us. And weight loss will probably not happen to all of us

If the above information describes you, relax and know there are simple options available to you to start your journey back to health. We can make better food choices and supplement our diets with missing components. We can opt for the apple over the apple juice. We can choose a baked potato or salad over french fries. We can choose whole-grain bread over the white fluff that is passed off as bread. We can take the time to read food labels. Chances are, if you can’t pronounce it, you shouldn’t be eating it. We can choose processed foods with a very short list of ingredients; the longer the list, the more processing involved, the more nutrition lost, and the less chance of healthy weight loss.

Start by realizing what you put in your mouth will make a difference. Just talk to any health care provider if you don’t believe me. We need to show our bodies more respect. We need to take better care of it by dieting to accomplish weight loss. Our bodies are amazing organisms, capable of extraordinary things. They are designed to filter out toxins at an astounding rate. They have a highly sophisticated defense system. They have an amazing ability to recover from serious damage. The key lies in providing our bodies with the necessary building blocks to accomplish what they were designed to do-to keep us alive and weight loss is extremely important.

Weight Loss - Positive Self Talk & Motivational Quotes

Weight Loss - Positive Self Talk & Motivational Quotes

What you think and believe is the accumulation of yourself talk and it is what you achieve. Who’s in charge of your mind anyway? Here are some funny quotes but let’s see who can come up with some that feel good (although perhaps a bit uncomfortable when you first say them), mine was: “I’m a thin and sexy woman”. Mind you I was 400+ pounds at the time, but I said it over and over, wrote it down hundreds of times. I also bought a special ring that I still wear today. Every time I see it I remember that mantra and it keeps me on track! That was just one of my weight loss projects.

“When we lose twenty pounds… we may be losing the twenty best pounds we have! We may be losing the pounds that contain our genius, our humanity, our love and honesty.” ~ Woody Allen, American film. It is kind of a weight loss joke but are we losing good weight? There is water, muscle and there is fat weight loss. In the beginning people are normally loosing water not fat.

Weight loss will never solve personal problems that are not related to weight. When you or I reach your goal weight or even if we don’t, you still have to live with yourself and deal with your problems. No matter what ever life changes go through you will still have the same husband, the same job, the same friends, the same kids, and the same life? Weight loss is not a cure for life. It’s a fallacy that fat people are happy, lazy, and stupid or anything else just because they are overweight for their health. There is a joke that goes something like: A diet is when you watch what you eat and wish you could eat what you watch. Diets are doomed to failure. I believe that only changing living and eating habits for life work. To go on a DIET it so say this is temporary.

While embracing weight loss and embracing a heather life style, you will begin to think of yourself as becoming the person you want to be. And what is that? It’s a great time to take a look at your whole life, every aspect of it. Good health brings out the stronger and brighter man or woman in you.

When embracing a weight loss and natural health plan, a little humor will go a long way. Laughter is one of the best medicines that we can create I our lives. Optimum health includes laughter, not just a giggle here and there, but a good old fashioned belly laugh. The discovered in medicine while working with cancer patients that laughter could lead to cures. Could it do any less for our self esteem? How we see ourselves, how we feel about ourselves and our internal self talk creates what we eat and our physical health. So let’s have a good belly laugh and have more weight loss.
