If you are serious about wanting weight loss it is worth making sure that you are properly organized before you begin. Here is a list of tips and hints that will help to ensure that you get off to a good start to ensure that you give yourself the best chance at weight loss from the onset.
1. Make a list of the foods you will need for your diet and ensure that you have a good store cupboard with the required foods ready at hand.
2. Buy fresh foods on the day you want to eat them to ensure maximum nutritional value.
3. To help with your weight loss, you may want to remove temptation and empty your cupboards of the foods that have helped to make you overweight.
4. Make sure you have a good store of high quality protein. Remember protein is essential to reduce fluid retention and to speed up your metabolism. It also helps to turn fat into lean muscle. All of these things will help you to lose weight more effectively
5. If you know you are prone to a sweet tooth then a store of fruit such as bananas, apples and oranges will offer a more acceptable alternative. Sugar raises insulin levels too quickly and too high making it more difficult for weight loss, whereas fruit contains fiber which has to be broken down and results in a slower absorption of sugar and a more gradual rise in insulin levels. This will have a lesser effect on your ability to lose weight and sustained weight loss.
6. How can you cope with a business lunch or dining out when trying to lose weight? It is relatively easy in this day and age to avoid the alcoholic beverage on the understanding that you are driving. Many restaurants now offer healthy alternatives. If you are unsure what to choose often the simpler the meal the better. Something that has plenty of protein rather than a pasta meal. It is easier to leave a potato or two rather than have to pick out the meat from a pasta dish. You can always go for the fruit salad option or just opt out of the sweet course completely. If all else fails remember that one meal wont make you fat so just resolve to get back to your weight loss program and you will not compromise your ability to continue to lose weight
7. A good rule of thumb is to stick to your diet at least for 95% of the time and don’t knock yourself up if you have a bad day or feel a desperate need for a treat. It is better to honor this than fight it as inevitably the need will grow and could result in your giving up your diet even temporarily hindering the speed at which you will lose weight.
8. Remember that as well as sticking to your diet if you want to lose weight and keep it off you need to start thinking like a slim person and imagining yourself as slim. The power of though can help you to lose weight more effectively and to keep it off for good.
9. Whatever you do don’t give up. Even if you have to take a week or a month off you can always start again. If at first you don’t succeed try, try, try again, is an excellent mantra for anyone who wants to lose weight.
10. Finally it is always beneficial to have a friend to accompany you on your journey. It is also very important to have the support of your family, especially if you think they may be inclined to tempt you with goodies that will not help you to lose weight
This is certainly not a definitive list but if you are genuinely keen for wanting sustained weight loss, then this list will give you an excellent start.
